Ok, so why isn’t a new episode airing tonight? Part of the reason fans are furious is because they are paying $10 a month for Showtime and only getting two new episodes of Shameless a month. If you recall, fans were asking the same question a couple weeks ago when Season 11, Episode 6 didn’t show up in the streaming service when it was expected. Couldn’t they have just made more episodes if they wanted to stretch out the season? Likewise, fans were even more furious with the sad attempt at using the Shameless: Hall of Shame season companion to stretch out the final season of the series.
And, with this being the final season of the series, most fans are hating it. The network has put anywhere from one to three week gaps in between new episodes. According to Deadline, the new season of "Shameless" will pick up a month after the events in the season 6 finale. However, it appears that someone is still watching over the Gallagher patriarch. The finale ended with Caleb (Jeff Pierre), Carl (Ethan Cutkosky), Debbie, Ian, Kev (Steve Howey), Svetlana (Isidora Goreshter), and Veronica (Shanola Hampton) kidnapping Frank and tossing him into the Chicago River. The ever-suffering Fiona's wedding was ruined when Frank revealed that Sean (Dermot Mulroney) was still using heroin. Fans will recall that at the end of the series' sixth season, Lip (Jeremy Allen White) agrees to undergo treatment for his alcoholism, Debbie (Emma Kenney) decides to accept Fiona's (Emmy Rossum) help in raising Frannie, and Ian (Cameron Monaghan) was able to get his job back.
